The Elk River Area School Board plans to develop a long-range facilities plan, and it is requesting the public’s help.
The District 728 School Board engaged last month in a session with TeamWorks International to seek assistance with the development of a community-based long-range facilities plan.
As part of this process, the School Board has decided to form a facilities management design team with people from throughout the district, including parents, staff, business owners and employees, clergy, retirees, public employees and other community members that make up the fabric of the district, according to a press release.
The District 728 Facilities Management Design Team will consist of approximately 40 community members who will meet up to nine times from 5-9 p.m. from August through November.
“This group’s purpose will be to gather insights and perspectives from the community to develop a long-range facilities management plan, and to present a recommendation to the School Board,” Elk River Area School Board Chair Holly Thompson said. “Some of the influences that the team will study are housing data and projections, community demographic patterns, growth management strategies of our local municipalities and educational trends.”
Ultimately, a recommendation will be presented to the board, incorporating these factors as the district strives to deliver positive outcomes for present and future learners.
At this time the board is seeking community members who are interested in serving on the Facilities Management Design Team.
“This appointment will involve a commitment of time and energy, and it is important that selected members are able to attend all sessions,” Thompson said.
Those interested in serving on the group must complete the online application by June 17. Access the application form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ISD728FACILITIES.
Applicants who are selected will be notified by mid-July. For more information, contact Joe Stangler, director of research and assessment, at Joseph.Stangler@isd728.org or 763-274-3198.
