Julia Abell

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Julia’s favorite classes from senior year were AP Literature and Composition and AP Art Studio. She enjoyed these classes because they challenged her to improve herself creatively. Julia was involved in both visual and performing arts throughout the year, including participation in theater productions and competitive art shows. She was also a member of National Honor Society who volunteered for the local community.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Performing in theater productions was Julia’s most memorable high school experience. She has enjoyed participating in the high school theater department for the past three years, and her final role as the Wicked Witch in “The Wizard of Oz” was her favorite character to play.
What are your plans for the future?
Next fall, Julia will be attending the College of St. Benedict pursuing a bachelor’s in Environmental Studies.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
This past year Brianna was involved with Varsity Soccer (Captain) and Dance Team (two-year Captain), DECA (Chapter Officer), National Honor Society, and Prom Squad while taking college-level and Advanced Placement courses.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Brianna’s most memorable high school experience was traveling to Nashville, Tennessee in April for the DECA International Career Development Conference. Here Brianna competed a Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan with her partner, Jessica Dexheimer, and together they were awarded 2nd place out of the 144 teams competing at this competitive conference.
What are your plans for the future?
Brianna will be attending the University of St. Thomas in the fall where she plans to pursue a career in business. She will be trying out for the Tommie Soccer team in August.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
This past year, Addy juggled the task of being involved in four college classes at Elk River High School while working 20 to 25 hours a week at her job. She is a dedicated student and employee who also excels in the artistic realm. Her MLK-inspired piece was featured in the local newspaper. She also received the Scholastic Art Honorable Mention for a drawing of her grandfather.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Addy’s most memorable high school experience would be attending prom with her friends and dancing the night away. It was a great way to end senior year with her friends before everyone leaves for college.
What are your plans for the future?
Addy will be attending St. Cloud State in the fall for nursing.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Jaci’s highlights in high school classes were participating in many art classes. She relished challenging herself in AP classes and enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities, such as S.E.R.V.E. A big achievement for her was serving as president for the S.E.R.V.E. club and participating in club activities, such as volunteering at Guardian Angels.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Jaci’s most memorable high school experience was having a gallery space at the high school’s 2016 Evening of the Arts event. This was special to her because it showed her hard work throughout the many years is starting to pay off, as she begins to receive recognition for her art.
What are your plans for the future?
Jaci plans on attending St. Cloud State University in August. She plans on double majoring in graphic designs and business. She hopes to get a job involved in the arts.

She was involved in varsity soccer in the fall, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
She has too many memories to count, but the highlights of her year came from Friday night football games, homecoming or prom. She is grateful for all of the memories she has gained with her classmates and her best friends over her high school career.
What are your plans for the future?
Alyse plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study engineering.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
This past year Annika took four AP classes, College Spanish, and was in Wind Symphony for her third year. Her favorite class was AP Literature and Composition with Ms. Harmer. Annika was named the Triple A winner for girls at Elk River High School. She was the captain of the volleyball team, All-Conference, Academic All-State, and received the Elk Pride award along with her second varsity letter. She was also involved in Wind Symphony and Black Elk Jazz Band where she was the lead trumpet in both, receiving her fourth varsity letter for band. This was also her third year of National Honor Society where she enjoyed being able to volunteer and give back to the community.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
One of Annika’s most memorable experiences during her high school career was the high school volleyball season where the team beat Osseo and Anoka going 9-4 in conference; the best record Elk River volleyball has had in over 10 years. Her other most memorable experience was her senior prom. She had a blast with all of her best friends!
What are your plans for the future?
Annika will be attending the University of Minnesota Morris where she plans to major in communications and will be playing volleyball.

Jennifer is a member of the varsity tennis team and varsity speech team. Her favorite classes are AP Biology, CIS Anatomy and Physiology, and AP Lit and Comp
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Jennifer’s favorite memory is going to state in tennis and speech.
What are your plans for the future?
Jennifer plans to attend Macalester College and pursue a major in Biology or Chemistry.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
French Club played soccer against German Club, which was fun. As usual France took another win. As for school work, molten iron and crystallized vanilla ice cream sum it up rather well.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Winning survivor was pretty neat, and yes, Blake still has the best single ladies moves. What made it all special though, was the idea of doing something so eye opening and having everyone respond so well.
What are your plans for the future?
Well, college looks like it’s next, and then probably the search for a family. But besides all that, it would be nice to do a little more in French.

In the past year, Emma competed individually in figure skating, ice danced, was a member of NHS and LINK, played in the ERHS band, and was a beginning skating instructor. Emma’s favorite classes in high school were AP Biology, AP Calculus, and AP Literature.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Emma’s favorite high school experience was skating with the Junior Team Braemar Synchronized Skating Team. She loved competing as a member of Team USA and traveling with her teammates.
What are your plans for the future?
Emma will attend Carleton College and plans to major in Environmental Studies.

Mary Rolfes

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Mary was involved in Elk River Theater’s fall play and was a captain of the Speech team this year. Her favorite classes were AP Calculus and AP Chemistry, two of the five AP courses she took this year, which she balanced along with a job that she loves at Kemper Drug. She had the privilege of working with incredible coaches, directors, and fellow students, and has made many lifelong friends.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Mary’s most memorable high school experience is a three way tie between the Section 7AA Speech Tournaments of her sophomore, junior, and senior year. Hearing her own name called out for category champion and her team’s name called for section champion each year are moments she will always cherish.
What are your plans for the future?
Mary will be attending Boston University in the fall and plans on completing a dual-degree program to earn a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a Master of Public Health degree. She is enrolled in the University’s Kilachand Honors College.

Landen played on the varsity baseball team as a catcher and third basemen.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Being a part of the state roster and winning the consolation trophy his sophomore year.
What are your plans for the future?
He will be attending NDSU next year, seeking a major in statistics with an emphasis on actuarial science

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Keith was the Boys Varsity Soccer goalkeeper, competed on the Knowledge Bowl and Math Teams, played Jr. Gold Hockey, and was the Scarecrow in ERHS’s production of “The Wizard of Oz.”
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Watching all of his hard work pay off in being selected as the varsity goalkeeper in his first year of soccer.
What are your plans for the future?
Keith is attending Concordia College at Moorhead this fall. He aspires to be a math professor.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Grayson participated in several activities and groups, and he took away the most from Speech and Drama. He had amazing coaches and directors who helped him achieve things he never thought possible when he entered High School his Freshman year.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Seeing the Elk River speech team develop over the past four years from a small, mostly unnoticed team, into a strong force in the state has been an incredibly memorable experience for Grayson.
What are your plans for the future?
Grayson is enrolled at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and hopes to study psychology while continuing his passion of performing.

Julia spent the past year participating in the PSEO program at the University of Minnesota, and acted as a co-president in the Gay-Straight Alliance at Elk River.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Julia’s most memorable high school experience was all the coffee shop study sessions where more jokes were made than studying accomplished.
What are your plans for the future?
Julia plans to attend the University of Minnesota this fall and double major in journalism and political science. She wants to continue her education and potentially pursue a career in law.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
Timothy was involved in many activities throughout the school, including cross country running, national honors society, French Club, and speech. Timothy was a captain and peer coach of the speech team and president of French Club.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Timothy’s most memorable experience in high school was when the speech team claimed the section championship for the third year in a row. Being a part of the team all four years of high school, Timothy feels incredibly privileged to have seen it grow from a smaller team to one making waves in the speech community.
What are your plans for the future?
Timothy is attending the University of Chicago in the fall, majoring in English and Queer/Gender Studies. Timothy plans to pursue a Ph.D. in literature and eventually become a professor, teaching while doing research and theory.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I took PSEO classes full time at Anoka Ramsey including calculus, two semesters of Spanish, contemporary world history and music appreciation. I also participated in Knowledge Bowl and the fall musical.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Getting first in conference with my Knowledge Bowl team. It was just a fun night and it was pretty cool to win medals.
What are your plans for the future?
In the fall, I’m going to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, majoring in chemistry and chemical engineering. Beyond that, who knows.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I have been involved in Pep Band, Jazz Band, Guitar Club, Book Club and Knowledge Bowl (KB). Whether it was sacrificing my Saturdays for a KB meet or getting up early for band practice, it was always worth it to be with my friends and coaches who have become my “school family” in their own unique ways.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable experience from my high school years was waking up an extra hour earlier before school to either jam out some jazz on the clarinet or strum it on the guitar. It was always the best way to begin my day and I have garnered the skills to express myself musically which I will be grateful for every day in the rest of my lifetime.
What are your plans for the future?
In the near future I will explore different careers and majors of study in the subjects of art design, chemical engineering, and the Spanish language at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Long term, I want to explore and define what I am truly passionate about and find a career doing what I love.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I sort of senior slid this year, but also not all. My courses included AP physics, AP calculus, AP microeconomics and college macro as well as public speaking and AP government. I am a speech team captain and president of multicultural group, along with miscellaneous other extracurriculars.
What are your plans for the future?
Short term, I am visiting my friend in Germany this summer and seeing a bit of Europe before moving to Chicago in the fall. There, I will attend the University of Chicago.

Swim and Dive team 8th-12th grade, section swim meet participant all years, captain senior year.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Going to the state swim meet in fall 2015. It was so fun to be there with all the best swimmers in the state. I was so proud of our team for going, especially since we’re a small team.
What are your plans for the future?
Florida Southern College, undecided on my major.

Being involved with Rogers Basketball was the best experience I had in high school. Making friends with people who you’ll have a relationship for life really set it apart from everything else.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable experience was when I scored my thousandth point in my last high school basketball game.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on playing basketball and studying computer science at University of St. Thomas.

During my time at Rogers High School I took many AP classes and took many art classes. I was also involved in many clubs and activities including volleyball, NHS, National Art Honor Society and LEOs volunteering.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
What I remember most about high school was playing volleyball. I loved the teams I played with and I had great coaches all four years.
What are your plans for the future?
I am attending Minnesota State University Mankato in the fall and I am planning on majoring in dental hygiene.

Played hockey and baseball. Participated in NHS. Always willing to help other students.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Playing in the outdoor hockey game at Handke Pit. Hockey is my favorite sport and it was a once in a lifetime chance.
What are your plans for the future?
Attend the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and study finance.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.

Throughout my attendance at Rogers High School I was able to take many AP and college classes which allowed me to complete about a year of college. This was a great opportunity I had as it saved me money for the future and pushed me harder and further in my education. During my time at Rogers I played soccer, progressing from C team to varsity. I took piano lessons (I am playing at the upcoming baccalaureate), and for fun outside of school, golf and basketball.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Well, one would be when we beat Maple Grove 5-4 in overtime. It was one of the most intense soccer games I have ever played. We tied it in 1 minute 30 seconds left in regulation time right after they just scored a penalty kick. It was so special as I felt so inspired about being part of a team, and having just won, felt very accomplished. It was a great game, probably one of the greatest of my life.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be attending the University of St. Thomas to pursue a degree in the field of engineering. Additionally I hope to continue playing golf, soccer and piano in my free time. By working hard, studying a lot and doing things I enjoy, I hope to leave a positive impact on the world in whatever way my life may take me.

My extracurricular activities include high school and club swimming (Sea Devils), NHS, teaching Sunday school at church, volunteering at the Maple Grove Hospital and FCA.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience was all the after sections parties with my team.
What are your plans for the future?
Next year I am attending the University of Evansville and majoring in biology and plan on continuing on to medical school.

During my time at Rogers High School I was able to take many of the AP and college courses offered. I was also involved in cross country running, Nordic skiing, and track and field.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience was going to my sports competitions. This was special for me because I loved competing and being around my friends.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be attending the University of Minnesota and pursuing a degree in engineering.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I am super involved in my Advanced Marketing/DECA class, and I guess I have to be involved in my AP and college courses. Outside of school, I participate in the Rogers DECA chapter, Rogers Dance Team, NHS and the Leos Club. I also am a frequent volunteer in my community, especially in my church and for the Miracle League of Minnesota.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience was planning and executing the first annual Rogers High School Color Run 5K. This was special because we were able to get our community involved in a super fun event to donate money to Hope 4 Youth teen homeless shelter.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison and major in biology to pursue a career in biostatistics.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I have always excelled at math and science. I have taken many advanced classes in those subjects such as: AP statistics, AP calculus, honors chemistry and college anatomy/physiology. My involvement in wrestling (two years), football (four years), and golf (five years) at the high school level taught me how to work with others as well as how to deal with all sorts of challenges. I am also involved with the NHS and Royal Connections.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience came from being a member of the football team. This is so special to me because it showed me that it is always easier to push through adversity when I have a team that depends on me.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in the fall. I will be majoring in kinesiology with a pre physical therapy mindset. I plan to pursue my doctorate of physical therapy (DPT). I hope to use these credentials to help spread the knowledge of how to maintain a healthy body and thus minimize the level of chronic disease in this country and in the world.

Challenged myself with taking all four years of Spanish, AP English junior year and AP stats senior year. Involved in NHS, Link junior year, basketball freshman year, track freshman and sophomore years and soccer all four years.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Most memorable high school experience was going to state as a senior in soccer because all of our hard work paid off and it has been my dream since I was little.
What are your plans for the future?
Continue my education at Bemidji State University where I will also play soccer, hopefully major in nursing.

Extracurricular activities: girls tennis, Link, NHS, peer tutoring. For the past two years I have also been involved with the PSEO program.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience was attending sporting events with my friends. It was fun to make memories and cheer on my school.
What are your plans for the future?
Next fall I will be attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
All four years of high school I played soccer and I was a team captain my freshman and sophomore years. I also played basketball for the first two years. I played the clarinet in band my freshman year.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experiences are the team sleepovers for soccer. I moved to Rogers my junior year and I didn’t know anyone. The team bonding really helped me to get to know my teammates better and feel more comfortable in a new school.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on attending the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and majoring in accounting. I would like to study abroad in France for a semester as well.

Knowledge Bowl, Boy Scouts, Chemclub president at Anoka Ramsey Community College (ARCC), managing editor of Campus Eye News Team (ARCC), Order of the Arrow chapter chief, lodge chief and section C-IA vice chief (Boys Scouts Honor Society).
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
As a junior, I presented about STEM to second graders in my Chem II class. I did chemistry for the class like freezing a ball in liquid nitrogen, igniting gases, glow in the dark reactions, etc.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be pursuing a degree in mathematics and biochemistry at the University of St. Thomas. I then plan to either pursue a Ph.D, M.D. or get another degree to teach at a collegiate level.

I was a captain of my basketball and soccer teams, I was in NHS, ISD 728 Leadership, on the prom committee and helped lead our school’s FCA group. As a student I took many AP classes over the years to push myself and prepare for college.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
One of my most memorable high school experiences was going to state my senior year with my soccer team. It was a goal that our team had been working towards for many years and it was great to see all our hard work pay off my last year on the team.
What are your plans for the future?
I will be attending Bethel University in the fall to study nursing and play soccer.

Highlight your involvement in high school classes and extracurricular activities this past year.
I’ve been in track and field for four years, played volleyball for three years and was a volleyball manager my senior year (AKA I got cut, lol). I’m a member of National Art Honor Society and a co-founder of Bad Movie Club.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable experience in high school was buying matching panther shirts with the volleyball team. It was the best $14 I’ve ever spent.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall. My major is undecided.

I took AP classes, mostly math, and participated in art classes. I’ve been involved in dance, track, DECA, FCA, Impact, UNK, FIDM Fashion Club, NHS and National Art Honor Society.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Winning conference every year for dance and senior year homecoming week. They were both a ton of fun.
What are your plans for the future?
Go to NDSU, major in business and then go onto law school.

Homecoming week of senior year because of all the activities during the week and the football game.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to attend Bethel University and pursue a major in nursing.

Manager of Rogers Dance Team for four years, golf team 9th-11th grade (captain 11th grade), confirmation group 9th-10th grade.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
My most memorable high school experience would be my Spanish trip to Peru last summer. This trip was an incredible opportunity to learn about a different culture and spend time with fellow classmates. The trip was incredible!
What are your plans for the future?
I am attending University of North Dakota to obtain a biology degree. Eventually I plan to enter the physical therapy program.

I participated in no school-organized extracurricular activities but instead I was involved in church activities several nights a week.
What was your most memorable high school experience? Why was it special?
Pranking my science teacher with a wireless mouse during class. It was hilarious.
What are your plans for the future?
Study abroad for a year in Finland, study mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota, take what life throws my way.
